Cough and breathlessness are symptoms that accompany various dogs’ disease. It does not have to be respiratory tract disease but they very often appear in heart or circulatory system disease. This disease can be found usually in older dogs. Their problems begin inconspicuously and get worse. Dogs are very tired first and breathless during effort. These symptoms are accompanied with cough. Heart disease can become evident by having sudden weakness and unconsciousness. These states are caused by insufficient supply with blood of central nervous system in exalted situations. We can also meet swellings in abdomen or legs. This is caused by blood accumulation in these parts. Ther can be inflammatory, degenerative or tumour disease of valves, myocardium or pericardium. This disease can be accompanied with various defects of heart frequency and rhythm and defects of impulse creation and transmission that shows the heart beat. Lower and higher respiratory tract problems have various causes. The number of allergic disease is higher nowadays. Heart and respiratory tract problems are caused by the environmental conditions and dogs and their owners’ lifestyle. Thoroughbreeding of some dogs’ breeds is also very influential in connection to congenital and developmental disease.
Veterinary cardiology and pneumology is highly interested in circular and respiratory tract disease. These fields are successfully under development in our clinics with the help of specialized veterinary doctor. We regularly participate in specialized seminars in our country and abroad. We organize specialized seminars related to veterinary medicine of small animals including cardiology and pneumology. We publish various articles in specialized magazines for breeders. We offer treatment of infectious and non-infectious inflammatory states including allergic disease in the field of respiratory system.
